Welcome to the New Zealand home of the E100 Bible Reading Challenge and the Essential Jesus Challenge. E100 and Essential Jesus are flexible resources designed to help you get into reading the Bible.
One of the key reasons why Christians don't read the Bible is that they find it difficult to understand.* The E100 Bible Reading Challenge features 100 carefully selected readings (50 Old Testament, 50 New Testament) designed to give people a good understanding of the overall Bible story from Genesis to Revelation. The E stands for essential and each of the essential 100 readings ranges from a few verses to a few chapters.The Essential Jesus Challenge is similar to the E100 Challenge, but features 100 readings focussing on the person of Jesus. Essential Jesus has 25 readings in the Old Testament and 75 readings in the New Testament. Essential Jesus helps participants find out more about Jesus and why he is so significant.
You do not have to do E100 before you do Essential Jesus. They are stand alone resources.
Through completing both challenges, participants are encouraged to build a regular habit of spending time with God through Bible reading and prayer.
PERSONAL CHALLENGE - At its heart, E100 and Essential Jesus are personal challenges. They're not easy - they're not meant to be. Bible reading is a discipline, something we need to be committed to.
Churches and participants can take the challenges in a way that suits them. It doesn't have to take 100 days - it's entirely up to the individual.
